Sorry, I was thinking this would be a very FAQ for TastyApps, and you could probably find this answer on their website.  They might appreciate that, or their support might not be as responsive as we are  Cool.

Okay, I just sent questions about SpiceRack to TastyApps and I'll let you know what they respond.

Videobox seems to still work.
Well, I would poke around the TastyApps web site and confirm that Videobox does not need SpiceRack.  If SpiceRack was not packaged inside VideoBox, then how/why did it get on your Mac?  In this business, you can get into alot of trouble by drawing conclusions when something seems to work  Wink

But does removing the SpiceRack preference pane from System Preferences delete SpiceRack entirely or do I need to do something else?
Ditto; you need an answer from the TastyAppers.

Also, once we're able to fix the problem I'm having with the bookmarklet I'll post a message in the URL Manager Pro discussion group about switching to BookMacster.
Thank you.

Oh, for your information, I think that VideoBox won't work until you reinstall or turn back on SpiceRack.

Thank you, Mirsky.  We'll put some extra goodies in the next release to catch errors or log some more clues in this area.  As you know, releases have been fairly frequent recently.

Jerry, I quit BookMacster and restarted it but it didn’t solve the problem.

Thank you, Mirsky.  Just one more thing, if you've not already done this.  Make sure that after removing SpiceRack you quit and relaunched BookMacster.  SpiceRack and ApplicationEnhancer load their code into all apps when they launch, and it stays there until they quit.

I do have a Tasyapp -- Videobox. But I can't imagine it is affecting BookMacster.

Mirsky, I looked up Launch Services Error -10814 and it means that "No application in the Launch Services database matches the input criteria", which means that Mac OS X's Launch Services could not find BookMacster.  However, that's completely stupid because the error was in fact issued by a BookMacster process, not by a Mac OS X process.  I'll have to think about it some more.

Oh, I'll assume you don't but let me know if you're using any of the TastyApps such as Web Snapper, or the Unsanity apps such as Fruit Menu.  They install some system hacks (SpiceRack and ApplicationEnhancer) which have caused weird things to happen for several BookMacster users, and are kind of related this area of app launching and document opening.

Thank you.  That's what I was looking for.  I'm not sure what it means yet, but it's what I wanted.

Jerry, hi. I'm not an expert at using Console. But I ran it, then switched to Safari and selected Bookmacsterize from the menubar.  I saw this message within my Console messages:

5/26/11 5:39:34 PM      BookMacster[4335]      LSOpenFromURLSpec() returned -10814 for application (null) urls gent);.

Is that enough to figure out what's going on? Or do you need more messages from the Console? There are some other messages in the Console from a few other software programs.  Let me know if you want me to send you the whole thing.
